About the Course

Learn and explore the latest developments and uses for diagnostic ultrasound in the modern podiatric clinic. Increase confidence in requesting Ultrasound examinations from private/hospital clinics.

This is an introductory course, which will help clinicians identify the benefits of ultrasound examination for musculoskeletal conditions affecting the foot/ankle, know when or when not to refer. How to interpret the report findings and what to do next and how to go about requesting the appropriate imaging.

Learning outcomes:

Understanding:

* Indications for Ultrasound examination

* Uses in Modern Podiatry

* How to request Imaging

* How to train in Diagnostic ultrasound.

There will be a practical emphasis on the course, with Machines available to practice; we will also show how guided injection therapy works.

Registered Practitioners only: HCPC registered podiatrists, GMC registered Doctors and NMC registered Nurse Practitioners extended scope Physiotherapists are welcome as CPD.

About the tutor

Abid has been using these assessment techniques clinically on a daily basis triaging orthopaedic referrals within NHS musculoskeletal services, working closely with extended scope physiotherapists, orthopaedics, rheumatologists etc.

Over the years he has been more aware of ruling out potential lumbar spine pathology, to help in the diagnoses and management of lower limb/foot and ankle conditions.

Abid trained within the NHS, Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and BMJ musculoskeletal medicine. Consultant fellow podiatric medicine, member faculty podiatris medicine Royal College Physicians/Surgeons (Glasg).

Abid has been training in diagnostic ultrasound for over 6 years, and has qualified from the Centre for Ultrasound studies Bournemouth, where he now also teaches on the subject for the Podiatry dept, he has also qualified in injection guided procedures, and trained by SMUG and JCase
